Frode van der Laak currently serves as a post-doctoral researcher at the Norwegian Center for Cybersecurity in Critical Sectors (NORCICS), based in the Department of Information Security and Communication Technology at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). His expertise spans AI, Blockchain, and Big Data applications, particularly in dementia research. Frode also advises on Reltime's Decentralized Science initiatives. - PhD from King’s College London, where he specialized in using mobile handsets as nodes in a Proof of Authority Layer 1 blockchain with integrated identity features. - MSc in System and Software Security from the University of Oxford - Post diploma in IT from the University of Sunderland. In a recent monumental achievement, Frode was awarded the "Best Researcher of the Year" at the International Congress for Research Excellence 2024 (ICRE 24). This award was in recognition of his groundbreaking paper on using 5G mobile handsets as DAO and Node in Layer 1 Proof of Authority Blockchain, a testament to his pioneering work in integrating blockchain technology with advanced telecommunications platforms. This prestigious accolade was bestowed by the American Chamber of Research in collaboration with multiple esteemed global research organizations. It emphasizes Frode’s impactful contributions to blockchain technology and his innovative approach to leveraging the computational capabilities of 5G mobile handsets. Frode is also a prolific inventor, holding over 16 patents in Mobile, Blockchain, AI, and 5G technologies.
